A Review of Dead Star by Paz Marquez

Dead Stars is basically a love story about a man named Alfredo Salazar who incidentally meets a woman he fell in love with while engaged to his fiancĂ© Esperanza.

Alfredo is supposed to marry Esperanza, but then he meets Julia and falls for her, so he starts questioning himself if Esperanza was actually right for him. But in the end, he ended up marrying Esperanza. One factor that might have influenced this decision is because everyone around them knows about the wedding. So if he decides to cancel the wedding, it would be a big outrage to every one, especially to Esperanza. Another factor, which comes from him, is that because even if there's a mutual attraction between him and Julia, he still feels the responsibility of his set wedding to Esperanza. Even if there was apparent mutual attraction between him and Julia, he knew he had this promise to marry Esperanza, and being a man, he couldn't back out from it. Alfredo thought that he really loved Julia but when they saw each other again, the love he thought was possible never was. Just like a dead star, the love did not exist.

Dead stars symbolize things that are present but are left unspoken of. All of us have dreams. To have something or someone. But in the end we should be happy of what we have or what comes near to us.
